Pork Chops - One of America's favorite cuts to grill!

And with spring on the way, we know you're itching to fire up that grill and bite into a tender, juicy pork chop!

Here are a few things about pork chops that you might not know!

1. You don't have to cook your pork chops "well-done."
Whole cuts of pork, like chops, only need to be cooked to 145 degrees farenheit. This means it's okay if your chops are a little pink when you cut them open!

(Ground products like ground pork and sausage should be cooked to a minimum of 160 degrees.)

2. Pork chops are tender because of where they are located on the hog! Traditional pork chops come from the loin, which stretches across the pig's back. The loin is not a well-used muscle, which keeps it tender.

(Stronger muscles in the pigs butt and shoulders are generally better as slow-cooked roasts.)

3. There are many different variations in pork chops. Iowa Chops are typically bone-in, thick cut chops. French-cut chops have the rib bone attached like a handle. Smoked chops are pre-cooked, making them an easy heat-and-serve options!
